GET TO KNOW WIP!

We are WIP. Women in progress. Works in progress. Our intention for WIP is to create a community-centered safe space for women and non-binary musicians. We want to lift each other up, share advice and open a dialog about the role we play in the music industry.

We believe in what women and non-binary people have to say. According to an article published in Rolling Stone by Amy X. Wang that can be found here: “From 2019 to 2020, female artists fell from 22.5% to 20.2%; female songwriters decreased from 14.4% to 12.9%; and female producers declined from 5% to just 2%.” Our goal is to break down some of the barriers associated with releasing music and breaking into the industry. By building a community and sharing knowledge, we believe that we can help women and non-binary musicians get a much needed leg up in the industry.

On our blog we are so excited to feature some of our team's favorite artists. Stay tuned for write ups about new releases, cool things happening in the industry, interviews with producers, managers, engineers and more. Not to mention, we will be featuring our WIP song competition winner every month!

Currently the winner receives a free master by Tess Greenham and a free mix by Yang Tan. Our hope is to share the magic of mixing and mastering with up and coming artists every month. But, we also have even bigger plans for WIP. In the future, we would love to offer a variety of prizes and partnerships each month. We plan to partner with producers, songwriters, instrument and gear manufacturers, photographers or anyone who can add to the creative process.
